Jo'burg was discovered on a reef of gold in 1886, and has since become the largest city in South Africa. Visit the city and see how the decentralisation of business to Sandton has affected the old CBD, and the reasons why it happened. See Nelson Mandela's house, historic buildings, the old Stock Exchange, the City Hall and Rissik Street Post Office and more. You will also visit Constitution Hill and take a tour of the old JHB prison and the Constitutional Court with all its beautiful art and fascinating symbolism.
From JHB we head to Pretoria. South Africa's Capital City offers a historical tour of monuments and museums. Learn about the history of the country and its people, including the struggles that took place between the British, Dutch and African people in their quest to own and protect land. Pretoria is said to have some 55 000 Jacaranda trees aligning its streets, which during the spring time (September to November), produce a magnificent display of purple, which is breathtaking. Visit the Voortrekker Museum, Church Square and the Union Buildings and more.
