Jo'burg was discovered on a reef of gold in 1886 and has since become South Africa's largest and busiest city as well as the financial capital of Africa. Spend the first hour of your tour discovering the sights and sounds of Johannesburg. Then we make our way to Soweto. The 'South Western Township' is home to an incredible 1.5 million people making it Africa's largest township. Made famous during the apartheid era, Soweto was the home of the freedom struggle. You will see Freedom Square, Nelson & Winnie Mandela's house, Hector Pieterson Museum and Memorial and more. As you leave Soweto you will have gained a greater understanding of the miracle of South Africa's "Long Walk to Freedom".
