Nestled in the Magaliesberg mountains, this 1200ha game reserve offers tourists the chance to see White Rhino, Lion, Cheetah, Wild Dog, Buffalo, Hippo, Crocodile and a large variety of antelope. At the reserve centre there is a reptile & snake park as well as a restaurant where lunch can be enjoyed. After lunch, you visit the Sterkfontein Caves nearby, where the oldest human ancestral skull was found in 1947. Take a guided tour down the caves and learn more about the area and its secrets. Or you can choose to visit Maropeng. Maropeng is the official visitors' centre for the Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage Site whose name means 'returning to the place of origin' in Setswana, one of South Africa's 11 official languages. The centre has many displays and information on human evolution.
